This is not the book I expected but my gosh it was a formidable tapestry of stories. The weaving of a modern narrative in between historical stories of characters was beautiful. It’s moving, and heartbreaking, anger inducing, and at times uncomfortable to read, and it is something we should all read. I devoured this book and I’m so thankful someone wrote it so we could read it.
