The Night in Question by Liz Lawson, Kathleen Glasgow

3.0

Iris and Alice are back in this second installment of The Agatha’s. When their school dance is held at Castle Levy, the sight of the mysterious death of starlet Mona Moody in the 1940s, Iris can’t resist the urge to explore the castle and its secret passageways. What she doesn’t except is to stumble upon the body of a classmate, with another classmate holding a bloody weapon. Just like that Iris and Alice find themselves in the midst of not one, but two mysteries - because finding out what really happened to Mona Moody all those years ago may just lead them to solving the mystery of who attacked their classmate. Can they work together, with the help of their friends, to solve the mysteries before they culprit can strike again?

This was a fun Young Adult mystery. I enjoyed revisiting Castle Cove and thought this was a great follow on from The Agatha’s. It is probably on the younger side of “Young Adult” so I think that is what held me back from rating it higher. I enjoyed the two mysteries, the present day mystery and the one from the past and loved Iris and Alice’s banter and meddling in the investigation. If you haven’t read The Agatha’s you could easily read this one without being too confused, but you will get some spoilers from the outcome of the first book. Definitely one I recommend to those who are fans of Agatha Christie, Young Adult fiction and The Agathas.
