Truth of the Divine by Lindsay Ellis
5.0

God. I’ve never enjoyed Sci Fi this much before. She’s gotten me hooked on a Sci Fi series and I can’t even mad about it.

This on is probably more like 4.5 stars, but I rounded up because realistically, the only reason it’s not 5 is because it’s not quite as good at the first book. There were some plot lines that definitely threw me off, that I never would have imagined after reading the first one, but after all is said and done, boy oh boy did I enjoy this book.

I had a lot of feelings In this book, but I’m just gonna leave it with a quote that sorta sums up one of the biggest existential questions that the book poses.

“Are these truly traits of our shared human nature? Is this an inexorable, inescapable state of our being? Or is this all the result of a shared construct that we have erroneously agreed is a necessary evil of civilization? A fiction agreed upon, one that might be changed? If it is the latter, then perhaps we might be saved. But if it is the former, if our self destructive tendencies arise not from construct, but from our innate natures, then I truly believe that we will not survive.”
