I'm Glad My Mom Died is both darkly funny and heartbreaking. Jennette tells her story (and what a story it is) in a way that's weirdly both hilarious and the saddest thing you've ever heard in the same chapters. I found myself laughing out loud at some parts and yet in disbelief and horrified at others. It's so honest and so needed because so many times these kind of stories go untold, or the people that live them don't get to heal. It's insane what the entertainment industry does to these people, to children.
Listening to the audiobook definitely made the horrors more bearable and the funnies more funny. Jennette is a great narrator. I'm glad she seems to be doing well, and hope we see more of her writing in the future.
