Dragons and Demons by Kel Kade

3.0

I stumbled upon this series 2016 maybe 2017 & really enjoyed the first 2 books (that was all there was at the time) with the nigh-flawless Rezkin, whiny Frisha, bumbling Tam & the rest of the characters that came along thru the series. There was a substantial break in the time between books 4 & this one that had me thinking that the author was just dropping the series as she'd released a book starting a new series with a completely new cast of characters. Then low & behold Ms. Kade was releasing 2 books this year a origin story for Wesson the mage & this book. I don't know how many more "skills" & "powers" an author can give a character, but even for fantasy it feels like a stretch. Since I listened to this book I'm pretty sure I can't spell half the new character's names or races. Although the subplot stories focusing on Tam & Wesson were superbly written & carried out showing real character growth for both these characters. Frisha is still whiny, but it looks like there could be some character growth in her future as well. I didn't care for the ending, for it felt rushed & lackluster for a "cliffhanger" I do hope we won't have to wait too long for the next book in the series. With how Ms. Kade left Rezkin hope this is a temporary mindset cause if not I might be jaded enough to set this series down & not finish.
