The Vanishing Half by Brit Bennett

5.0

This book is incredible. The characters are vivid and complex, and their decisions are treated with empathy, never judgement. The structure works very well and the flow of time, over multiple generations, is seamless. Themes of race and identity in modern American are deeply relevant, and this novel has given me so much to think about. It will stay with me for a long time.
