I enjoyed the characters and the setting (Venice) of this story, but it took a looong time to get to the magic carousel, and the aftermath of that was somewhat anticlimactic. I absolutely loved "Inkheart" which was also written by this author, but "The Thief Lord" had little of that book's charm or excitement for me.
