Bad Blood: Secrets and Lies in a Silicon Valley Startup by John Carreyrou

5.0

I don't read nonfiction much but I'm glad I picked up this one. I've heard of Elizabeth Holmes before in passing but not to a great extent. This book digs beep in the scam she ran at Theranos. We get to see what was happening behind the closed doors of the office through the ex-employees eyes.

I can't even begin to imagine how Elizabeth managed to hold this fraud company open for so long. Literally lies on lies on lies. I would have lost my mind. Obviously her idea was amazing but she was way to optimistic about it. If a product like that ever came to existence it would change lives. So I get why all the people around her wanted to believe in the idea. We see a lot of big companies and business men fall for the trap because they didn't want to miss out on such a huge opportunity. It just shows how the idea of something so powerful can blind a person into believing it even if it's all fake.

Carreyrou did an amazing expose on it. I loved the format of the book and how it was laid out. He certainly did his research and served the truth.
