Salt to the Sea by Ruta Sepetys
5.0
I read this book in one day. I couldn't put it down. Not-such-a-spoiler alert: it's about several young adults whose paths cross during WWII, so many parts of the book are devastating. The novel features a fictional depiction of a true but little-known historical event. However, I found the end quite satisfying. The narration and description are exceptional, and I found myself sympathizing with the plights of all the characters, even the young Nazi sailor genuinely drawn in by Hitler's propaganda. I hope to see more from this immensely talented writer.
