i think alice oseman is one of the best writers about mental illness around! i love how her characters are still so loved by everyone around them no matter their mental health. i thought this was a good portrayal of depression, particularly as a teen. tori's parents pissed me off soooo much, reminding me of how teenagers with any kind of mental health issue are treated, particularly teenage girls. you couldn't pay me to be one again. i think this was written in 2015 (??) so all the references to when i was a teenager were really bringing me back: all the Tumblr references and BBC Sherlock. I think I didn't love this one as much as I expected to because I didn't care for the whole Solitaire element; at times it felt a little far fetched to me and took me out of engaging with the characters. But I'm still glad I got to dive into Tori's character and more of this universe!
