Falling With You by Carrie Ann Ryan

5.0

Carrie Ann Ryan adds another emotional book to her Fractured Connections series. Falling With You centers around Aiden and Sienna, a couple that is still dealing with losing a friend to suicide along with an physical attack that leaves them both shaken and emotionally raw.

The series title of Fractured Connections is so on point with each of these books, it's almost difficult to put into  words how the lines of connections between each of the couples, friends, and their family is each damaged by the toils and hardships they each have faced, but let me start with the family aspect first.

The Connolly brothers; Aiden, Cameron, and Brendon grew up in foster care until they were adopted by Jack and Rose Connolly. Their past is tricky and messed up and basically fractured, but through each story they are working on becoming a family once again. There is also their youngest brother, Dillon, added to the mix who sometimes seems like the wisest one of the bunch. But like I said their family life is messy.

Sienna, Violet, Harmony, and Allison who is no longer with them, all grew up together are best friends, and have known the Connolly brothers since high school. Their friendship seemed to fracture when they lost one of their own and the gaping hole that Allison left is present everyday. Allison also dated Aiden at one point, but had long since broken it off before she ended her life. The guilt that Sienna carries for having a crush on her friends ex-boyfriend is huge and add in the fact that her friend is deceased carries an even bigger weight. Sienna can no longer talk to her friend about her feelings, so her burden seems to weighs a ton when her feelings only grow stronger for Aiden. Her life is messy.

As a couple Aiden and Sienna seemed doomed. There are so many obstacles to overcome. Can they move past the relationship that is still clinging to someone that is no longer there to ask permission from? Can they let go of all the anger around the feelings of being left behind? Can two people find solace in the arms of each other when the memories of the past keep piling up? Will either of them ever feel safe when answers can't be found?

Carrie Ann really does an amazing job of writing an emotional story. This series is heartbreaking, but hearthealing all at the same time.
