lexiejanson 's review for:
Throne of Glass
by Sarah J. Maas
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️4.8/5
I bought this book thanks to Instagram, and I am happy to say that I bought the entire series in one go.
The book is sometimes confusing (when POV's change). I also find one of the POVs utterly useless (hence the .8 at the end!).
NO-SPOILER REVIEW
I loved it:
- The storyline is great.
- There's enough world-building and lore behind the world and the story.
- No information dumps, and just enough "backstory" presented here and there at a suitable time.
- The characters are deep and well-thought through.
- Magic system is interesting, and as a"sucker for runes" I mean... em... rune lover, I absolutely loved the idea.
- There's a plot twist that I kind of did not see coming.
- The FMC is a bit stubborn, but believable in her stubbornness.
- I read it pretty fast. Kept me up at night!
SPOILER REVIEW
Celeana is a really great and strong FMC. I liked how the author (SJM) showed the process of getting back to her strength. There was vomiting (ah, if you experienced that - you know), exhaustion, and even returning period (dear gods more reliable content in FMC!).
The prince Dorian is reliable, I like how real andpissed troubled he is in the world that he sees as fake. His behaviour also shows how his parents (especially the king) are, which is only adding to the world-building.
Chaol is the sweetest and most adorable characters of them all. Loyal, honorable, and absolutely stuck in his own head. But that's fine. He kind of grew on me with time.
Let's just say that there were some confusing moments. Like... You guys took her from the slave mine, and she could not even keep food in, but hey... a week later she should be doing some... tests? Surely, that will go well...
