Loved this. This was very Days of Our Lives level drama with a dash of Mad Men. A pretty husband, perhaps too pretty, even, spends the entirety of this novel wondering if he did everything right, if maybe looks and being confident isn’t all it’s cracked up to be. A wife who feels her golden years are behind her wonders if the decisions she’s made up till now are a result of having a less than perfect upbringing or a husband that was out of her league? The couple sways back and forth in their thoughts of each other and the past, and whether or not to bring either of them up.

Did it do anything particularly new? I can’t say that it did, and yet, I felt it was executed in a way that was cheeky and tense. I loved the ending. I also really enjoyed the Sputnik 2 talk. This idea that it’s just a normal day when something so sudden and foreign to you happens. A reflection of the character’s own sudden barrage of thoughts? Love it!
