My Twist of Fortune by Piper Rayne

3.0

A different way to kick off a series that I enjoyed. It seems this story revolves around the parent/step-parent of the characters in the series. While not all the kids–which will be the leading adults later–have a chance for their personalities to really come through because there are so many–9 in total–some do. It also gives you a hint into possible issues that they may have to overcome in the future.

I found Marla and Hank to be very sweet and was rooting for them, as I mostly like we be for their kids. They both have kind hearts and know what really matters in life for them–their family and each other. This is a "second chance at love despite never being together" love story, but without the deep regret since they are both such family-oriented people and they wouldn't change their family. They just embrace the fact that their moment to be together has come despite the years, distance and adolescent children who won't like it.

I like how everything was wrapped up and there was a little preview of an upcoming main character down the line in the series and how her story continues.
