Hiding in Plain Sight by Eoghan Egan

This story had a great opening when we get to meet someone called The Art Dealer. My interest was well and truly piqued and I couldn’t wait to find out more about this person.

There are quite a few characters but the story mainly flicks between The Art Dealer, Hugh who is down on his luck in his job and personal life and Sharona who also works in the art world. Hugh was probably one of my favourite characters throughout as he comes across as a genuinely nice person who has a lot to deal with and you can’t help but have empathy for what he is going through.

The Art Dealer who we do get to find out more about the further into the story as well as their background, makes a great villain and a twisted, evil one at that. They certainly add a chill to the story along with lots of thrills. There is a lot to do with the art world as well as the author covers a multitude of other topics as in dementia, infidelity, gambling to name just a few so there is plenty going on. With there being quite a lot of characters, there were times where the story seemed to jump from one set of characters to another without any kind of break which threw me a few times but this didn’t affect my enjoyment of this novel.

Hiding in Plain Sight was a thrilling read which kept me turning the pages. Along with Sharona, I hope we get to see more of Hugh in the rest of the trilogy as I so enjoyed his character. Am eager to see which way the author steers the story in the next book as he has set the bar quite high with the villain in this one which does excite me as to what he has in store for us readers in the further two books. If you are after a page turner with never a dull moment, would recommend grabbing yourself a copy of this novel.

My thanks to Red Dog Press for a copy of this book which I won as part of a giveaway. All opinions are my own and not biased in anyway.
