"You know, so many priceless things, like diamonds, like marble, have to go through years of rough pressure and heat. They endure and are rewarded with strength and beauty. Anything worth having is forged, and that goes for us, too."
This is a book about legacies, feeling the need to live up to expectations (while perhaps feeling like you fall short of them), and forging your own path.
"The road might be long, but it's worth the reward."
An Alpha who doesn't really want to be an Alpha.
A beta who felt lesser than in a pack full of (wealthy) Alphas.
An Alpha who is self-conscious because his body is softer than most.
An Alpha who struggles inside because he knows their pack is broken.
An Omega who doesn't want to be an Omega after being shamed of what she was...
Tully is a Hartlock. Her name is famous due to her ancestor, Esta Hartlock (from "Omega Founded") who accomplished many things, particularly helping fight for Omegas' rights. Hartlocks were a legacy, their name had power. However, Tully is the first Omega Hartlock since Esta, and she's made to feel like it's something to be ashamed of by her Beta parents. They find her weak and a disappointment to their name.
Unfortunately, we learn that they weren't the only ones who treated her poorly. Someone took advantage of Tully during a low point in her life and left her emotionally beaten and alone, worse than ever before. She essentially becomes a recluse. Her only connection with other people besides a horrible roommate is on a website where no one knows who she truly is. She hides behind a persona, though one of her fans seems to see through her, despite never seeing her face.
One of the few times she does go out, she runs into people she's familiar with. She tries to run, but they're able to catch up to her. They learn she's their scent match and despite conflicting feelings between some of them, they start to grow closer and more welcome of the idea of pack life together. They hope that with her, their broken pack will somehow finally be fixed. Most of the men don't feel worthy of being mated or even being a part of the pack. Can they all find their worth, overcome their doubts and traumas, and find their happy ending?
This book was better than I expected it to be before I read it. I really enjoyed it, and recommend it for anyone who likes Omegaverse!
