Water Moon by Samantha Sotto Yambao

I am finding it so hard to put my feelings for this book into a review because it was so good!

The worldbuilding was so detailed and thorough that I felt so immersed with the world, the whimsical settings and even the dark ones was so well done. Throughout the book we learn more about the world and all the different places and secrets it holds, I love the twist about what the pawnshop is actually for, I was not expecting that.

The plot was evenly paced and so well thought out that I didn’t feel like there were any holes or missing points, right from the start I was hooked with wanting to learn more about the pawnshop and Hana.

The writing was flowing so much I was vibing with it and could not put the book down, the shorter chapters made it all complete.

Hana was such a complex character, from a young age she’s been taught how to manipulate, how to deceive and how to lie without ever getting caught. I love her development and struggles as she comes to terms with her father, her path and her new ally Kei. I love Kei so much he’s a golden retriever who loves helping out everyone and has so much wonder and curiosity.

The relationships between characters sometimes isn’t all what it seems and I love how we see the family struggles and developments, the new friendships and the old ones and ones dealing with betrayal.

The ending was an even more of an emotional rollercoaster that made me feel hopefully, fearful, heartbroken, happy.

If you haven’t read this book already you need to cause I wish I could read it for the first time again.
