This is an interesting one!
On the one hand, it isn't great. Its a little bit overplayed as a trope and some of the dialogue/character development is ridiculous. But...
On the other hand I love the boarding school setting and the idea of the Dhampir and the Moroi which actually sets it apart from the usual 'there are vampires and there are humans' set up. The scenarios in the book fit very well with the age of the main characters, but the pacing is a little bit too quick at times which ruined my suspension of disbelief.
All that being said, it is very readable when you don't want something too heavy, so I am going to try the next book in the series and see if it improves as the story develops and hopefully find out where the Strigoi came from
