The Library by Bella Osborne

3.0

3.5⭐️ to this heartwarming reads of the year. What do you expect from a book that have such a bookish title and front cover? Exactly. A bookish main settings, bookish characters and bookish plots! The bookish plots is alright, the bookish characters are on point, but the bookish main setting is not in the library, but more in Maggie’s house.

It follows two lonely bookworms who came across each other’s path while one just came back from the library and got mugged, and the other trying to rekindle his love towards books and going to the library. Maggie is a 70-ish woman who lives alone her entire life after losing her son and husband, whilst Tom is a teenager who are living his life painfully with an alcoholic father after the death of his mother.

Their main purpose in this book are to live a content life whilst saving the old village library that’s about to be demolished if there’s no longer support from the people there.

The themes brought in this book is fighting off addictions, and the importance of library and reading towards an individual and society. I am very much in love with the weird family dynamics they are having especially towards the ending of the book, but this book can be quite a slow paced one. But overall, it was an enjoyable read for me.
