A Rule Against Murder

This time we are taken along on Chief Insp. Gamache and wife's annual summer holiday to celebrate their wedding anniversary. Located on an isolated, intimate resort (lake-front Manoir Bellechasse), an estranged family is having a reunion, of sorts, sharing the lodge with Gamache and his wife. And wherever the Inspector goes, you know murder is sure to follow.
The Finney's, the matriarch of the estranged and eccentric family, has called the reunion to dedicate a marble statue in remembrance of a long-dead One of the family members is found dead, lying under a marble statue that had been installed at the lodge in remembrance of her long dead husband. Soon, one of the daughters is found murdered -- lying underneath the now fallen statue. As Gamache investigates the crime, the family's dysfunctional relationships are uncovered and soon so is the killer. Oh, and by the way, one of the children (aka suspects) happens to be known to the Inspector, after all they are a resident of Three Pines and Gamache has spent some time there dealing with several murders.
Again Ms. Penny has given us a wonderfully clever and engrossing mystery. I started reading and couldn't put down until I'd read the last page. Happy to know #13 in the series has just come out and I have plenty of Inspector Gamache to spend my fall with.
