When I was at the end of the Black Sun, I was wondering how Roanhorse will top it in the sequel, because I found it such a good and well rounded first book.
Well. She didn't.
To me, Fevered Star felt like "proper name... place name... backstory stuff..." While I agree that it is very important, I wish that parts of it were incorporated into the Black Sun as well, because the contrast was blinding for me.
Don't get me wrong, I still liked the worldbuilding and the characters I liked before, I am pleasently surprised about the new powers, but for the most part?
Fevered Star was a filler between an epic beginning and hopefully a similiarly epic end of the story.
