Is This Guy for Real?: The Unbelievable Andy Kaufman
by Box Brown
I received an advance readers copy from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review. I've always loved Andy Kauffman and thought his life was really touching and sad. This graphic novel focuses mostly on his wrestling "career" and does a good job of exploring the wrestling persona that he created. Unfortunately, it only lightly touches on the other aspects of his life and personality. At times the narrative is a little disjointed by the rapid jump from one event to the next. It still is an enjoyable story and it's presented in a manner which highlights Kauffman's talents as an entertainer and tries to distinguish between Kauffman-the comedian, the actor, the wrestler, and the real Andy Kauffman.
