Listen. Maybe this isn’t the most high-brow literature out there, but my god. I could not read this series fast enough.
Even if Nesta has been driving you insane for the past four books, you root for her the whole time. Watching her heal and seeing what was behind her cold stare was gripping.
Seeing so much of Cassian’s point of view really made me with we has seen more or Rhys’s POV while him and Feyre were in the early stages. Every romantic miscommunication hit SO HARD when you saw it from both of their perspectives. As did the spice.

Which brings me to what we are all wondering. Does this book live up to it’s reputation for being hot as hell in July? Yes and no.
Even if Nesta and Cassian are not your favorite couple in the series, there is no denying that SJM really hits her stride with longer sex scenes in this one, and the dirty talk is much improved (sorry Rhys). Previously I was confused on why these were called the ‘fairy sex books’, as while they were hot (ACOMAF forever), there’s only a couple sex scenes per book and by the time you get to ACOWAR it’s really all plot. The spice is always worth the wait, but I don’t know if I’d consider them smut first novel later.
However. This book finally gets to a quantity of sex scenes that is befitting of the title Fairy Sex Book.
That being said if you’ve heard that it’s super out there and k*nky you’re barking up the wrong tree. It’s hot, but they don’t *actually* do anything that wild.
Call me crazy but if she has toilets in her fantasy world, she can have handcuffs. Oh well, I guess she has 3 more books to go
