This Time Next Year by Sophie Cousens
3.0

A girl, Minnie Cooper (that is her real name) has almost impossibly bad luck every New Year’s Day (her birthday) to the point that she lost out on a prize the day she was born to Quinn. This has caused a lifetime of resentment for Minnie and her mom. Then Minnie meets Quinn again and keeps bumping into him. Will Minnie be able to get over her resentment?

This book is a fine read. This is more for if you’re in the mood for a Hallmark New Year’s Eve (complete with an insecure female baker who’s a little ditzy and everything (seriously why are there so many Hallmark movies featuring this type of character?)). The main characters and the plot are pretty predictable. They did add a little spice into the book with one of the characters having some serious anxiety. I also found the relationship between the two moms to be interesting. Although, Other than the background story (Quinn “stealing” Minnie’s name, prize, and luck), the rest of the story isn’t that unique. That is not to say that one cannot enjoy this book. You just need to go into it knowing that it’s predictable.

I would suggest this to anyone who likes Hallmark, the typical romance novels, quirky characters, and opposite attracts romances.
