Pedagogy of the Oppressed: 50th Anniversary Edition by Paulo Freire

I usually highlight words I want to remember when I'm reading a book- it was very difficult not to highlight every single word of this.

I think if you only read a few books in your life, this should be one of them. The first time I read this as a global studies major, my eyes opened in so many ways i never imagined. The work is brilliant, something I think should be taught in schools everywhere (though if you read it you'll see clearly why it is not). If you wish to be able to identify oppression: start here.
