The first half of this book hurt to read on a level I wasn't expecting.
The second half was a lot more tame as our FMC found salvation, so to speak. Her meekness annoyed me at times, her constant need to apologise and show gratitude, but there came a point where I realised her behavior was an instinctive response to her trauma, and it was actually something I recognized in myself.
Needless to say, this was a fairly decent read. I'm definitely craving the next book and added it to my TBR immediately.
Would I reread this? Probably not. Will it still have a place of pride on my shelf? Most certainly.
