Narrative of the Life of Frederick Douglass by Frederick Douglass

4.0

Super great fast read. Just a quick overview of his life. Get a peak into the everyday horrors or slavery and the overall attitude in states that had slavery.

He also gives a great insight into just how very hypocritical Southern Christianity is. How they use Jesus and the Bible as justification for anything they want, while ignoring some of the most important teachings of Christianity. But before you freak out: He is not anit-Christianity. He is actually Christian. He just has the conviction and bravery to call out hypocrisy and evil when he sees it -- even if it is hiding under the name of Jesus.
