I just adore this book. It is one of my most reread/listened to books alongside the majority of Marianas' other works. Her books are pure comfort reads for me.

Vanessa's inner monologue full of her sarcastic witty commentary surrounding all things Aiden, his obliviousness to any and everything other than football/career until Vanessa quits as his personal assistant and forces him to realise what she meant to him and his life is just *chefs kiss. Aiden faces deportation if he doesn't renew his contract soon, something that he doesn't plan to let happen. All he needs to secure his citizenship is a wife - and we can all guess who he has in mind to help him on that front.

I love the way the romantic connection and relationship between these two develops over the course of the book. The way Mariana writes her characters and develops them throughout the story is like catnip to me. Nothing feels rushed, and both Vanessa, Aiden, and their stories are relatable and well-rounded, cute & heartwarming. There are moments in this book where Aiden makes me swoon, I don't swoon. And as always Zapata is known as the Queen of Slow Burn for a reason as you get one spicy scene towards the very end of the book, but let me tell you, the build up to them is so delicious and worth the wait! Callie Dalton narrates and is fantastic as always. 🌶
