This was a great book. It's a social commentary on race, class and privilege. The main characters are a 20-something Black woman (Emira) and the late-30s, wealthy, White woman (Alex) whom she babysits for. They have an awkward dynamic, which is complicated when someone from Alix's past becomes acquainted with Emira. Emira is trying to discover who she is and what she wants out of life, as the other two cloud her judgment and can't see past their disdain for each other.
