Crying in H Mart by Michelle Zauner

challenging emotional reflective sad slow-paced

4.25

I can't say that I really enjoyed this book, and yet it is such a compelling and accurate depiction of grief that I didn't feel like anything less than 4.5 stars did it justice. I cried while reading this book (a rare occurrence). The way she described the permanent scar that is left when you lose a loved one and how you have to learn to live your life around your grief, is so accurate, and helped me understand my family in the wake of losing my grandfather last year. All that being said, I found the lack of chronology and jumping back into memories and then into the time she was narrating to be a bit jarring, and altogether the writing style didn't really grip me as I was reading.
