Sapiens: A Brief History of Humankind by Yuval Noah Harari
3.0
I feel kind of a asshole for not liking this book. Everyone I know “love” this book. Hence, I read. I can’t talk about this book without feeling like douche.
This read like a elaborate essay about your thoughts on the books you read. It’s grossly simplified and opinionated rather than history. Any which way, it’s definitely a good book but I went into this expecting entirely something different. I was kind of even impressed by the first few chapters and last few chapters but after and before were condescending and also that it was mildly disappointing.
Would I recommend this to others. Definitely. But it was just not super impressive for me. That’s the thing with famous books. If you read after it gets extremely famous you tend to get disappointed because of all the raving reviews and your expectations from it. So it’s definitely classic case of “ifs not you, it’s me”. Nevertheless it’s still a good book I guess. It makes you think!!!
