Lily, her mother and sister are moving back in with her maternal grandmother, or Halmoni. Once they arrive, Lily finds her grandmother exhibiting some strange behavior and learns her grandmother has brain cancer. Having lost her father in the recent past to a car accident, Lily is devastated at the thought of losing her mother and wants to do everything she can to save her. The story is woven with traditional Korean stories about a tiger girl, and Lily works with a tiger to set free some stories her grandmother stole as a girl. Lily is hopeful she can save her grandmother....
This was another heartrenching story of loss. Beautifully written, I enjoyed reading the Korean stories and cultural pieces. You can feel Lily's sorrow as she navigates the events in her life. 5 stars!
