The Seven Year Slip by Ashley Poston
4.75
This was a really beautiful read, full of romance, and warmth, and finding joy in the small things. But also a commentary on grief and I really appreciated those heartfelt descriptions.
The author was able to paint a scenery I wish I could step into, where Clementine and Iwan danced in Aunt Anelea’s kitchen, drinking wine and eating lemon pie. I loved all of their past/present interactions in that apartment, and I loved all the little time crossovers!
I wasn’t as keen on the present/present love story, I thought present Iwan fell a little flat and I wanted a little more joyous romance from him! But hey, his character was also a commentary on change and I can’t knock that.
I was just v in love with all the magical realism whimsy, this book felt like the personification of late evening summer air enveloping you in a warm hug.
