The Girl in the Ice by Robert Bryndza

4.0

The Girl in the Ice is a fast and furious read that left me gasping at the end! I really enjoyed DCI Erika Foster’s ragged return to work after a dramatic and personally devastating event (which we learned about as the novel advanced.) Her two sidekicks, Moss and Peterson, were perfect. The dialogue, descriptive scenes and plot twists ramped up all the way to the end. I would have given the book 5 stars except that I found the technique of occasionally having “the figure” (i.e. the likely murderer) speak in the first person interrupted the flow. Each time this happened I kept wondering whether or not this could have been left out completely. Anyone else wonder about this too? I’m definitely going to read the next in the Erika Foster series!
