9th Sleep by Makoto Tateno
1.0
Meh. Platonic brocest. Not my cup of tea. The plot was super confusing, too, and honestly creepy. A “good god” and a “bad god” are brothers... they duel and then whoever wins, earns the “King’s Soul” as a reward... the loser enters a “deep sleep,” and when the winner’s son is born (conceived with a woman whose only purpose is to have the winning god’s child), the losing god wakes up to battle the offspring of the winning god to see if he can win the King’s soul back.
Except the brothers fall in love with each other...? And the good king decides not to fight his brother because he loves his brother... so he kills himself to purposefully lose the duel but keep the soul... and is reborn (immaculate conception). Except the women who bear him (the three times he lost the duel on purpose) are women that he loved as an adult...
Eh. Weirdly incestuous and just bizarre overall. No thanks.
