Things We Left Behind by Lucy Score

5.0

Sloane and Lucian hate each other. They can’t stand to be in the room without bickering and going after each others throats. But their past 23 years ago still ties them together all these years later. Yet even through all of this, they can’t stay away from each other and they learn they need each other more than they realize.

This was my most anticipated read this year and it did not disappoint. The crumbs we got of the two of them in the previous books were so good, that I was already calling that this would be my favorite in the series. I’ve been dying to know about their pasts, and this book gave it. Throughout the book there’s chapters of their pasts, in both their pov to understand what happened and broke them apart all those years ago. And Lucian’s past broke me of the responsibility he had to take on and how fast he was forced to grow up.

The slow burn, the banter, the tension between Sloan and Lucian was chef’s kiss. It was so perfect and I couldn’t ask for that part to be any better. The character development of Lucian, was amazing. This is a brooding, stoic, grumpy man; yet the last 100 pages he had me kicking my feet and giggling.

The found family of Knox, Naomi, Nash, Lina, Lucian, Sloane, and so many more characters was amazing. Score did a good job of including enough of the other couple to leave me satisfied, but not too much where it takes away from Lucian and Sloane.

And don’t even get me started on that epilogue and the bonus chapter. It was absolute perfection and I was tearing up so much. It was the perfect way to close out this series and I’m so sad that this series is officially over.
