Winter by Marissa Meyer
5.0
You would not believe how happy I am to have just read 824 pages all written by Marissa Meyer.
*sighs happily*
This book is massive... maybe the biggest book I've ever read? And it was such a joy to read. Every page was pure gold.
However, I am a little sad, but only because I've finally reached the end of the lunar chronicles. I know that there are other short stories which I'm almost definitely going to hunt down and devour soon, but the truth is that short stories are never quite as good as a full blown novel.
I'm going to miss these characters. I actually like them quite a lot more than most people I know! I love each character individually... however my favourite is obviously Thorne.
I love the fact that Meyer can create a world that is so complex and different, and a whole political system and be prepared to go in-depth. I've read books before which feel like the author couldn't be bothered to try and work out the whole world, so they just conveniently skipped over massive parts using rubbish explanations... after all, it's only YA fiction, right? Teenagers don't mind if things make absolutely no sense as long as there's still a love triangle, right? *coughcough* Kiera Cass *coughcough*
Anyway, let's get back to reviewing a book here. Ahem.
Marissa Meyer always impresses me with her books because she doesn't treat YA fiction like it's not real fiction. She uses massive words. She completely builds her imaginary world so we can imagine it properly too. I appreciate this.
But the part I love the most of these novels has to be, undoubtedly, the interaction between the characters. I laughed so many times through this novel (I mean, full-blown snorting). The way her characters gel together and are so relatable... I can't get enough of Marissa Meyer and her books. I wish they were better known.
I'm still hoping for a Lunar Chronicles TV show that I can fangirl over too.
