Antifragile: How to Live in a World We Don't Understand
by Nassim Nicholas Taleb
Antifragile is supposed to explain how the mad world around us works-a world of black swans and post GFC crunches-and provide some insight into how to survive in this environment. It is, however, little more that a few smashed together popular memes that are intended to be applied as a cure-all balm to the problems around us. We've always attempted to understand the worldin terms of the popular meme of the day - society as vast telegraph network, society as a vast computer ... - only to discover that the world doesn't work that way. Antifragile is part of this trend, viewing the world through a black swan and 'cult of the entrepreneur' prism with mixed success. If you view the world the same way then the book you'll find the book very enjoyable as it confirms your biases. If not, then you will feel that it misses the point.
