I was very disappointed with this one.
The main character was an example of what I call the 'Broken Mother'. An individual who has lost a child due to one of various circumstances and is now struggling with anxiety/depression/etc (sometimes leading into villainy or evil - see Scarlet Witch in the recent Doctor Strange movie).
In this case the trauma of the main character's death was related to us on page, then used as a reason for her panic attacks and suicidal thoughts that come out of nowhere.
Then it was seemingly brushed aside and 'fixed' by the arrival and distraction of a love interest.
K thanks. I hated that.
