The House on Mango Street by Sandra Cisneros

5.0

I am at a loss for words, this book touched a part of me I did not know existed inside me. Does every woman wish to run somewhere far from where they are or does she stay where she is because there is in the world they live in currently wired them in a way that they feel at home in their home? The sad desire of a woman to belong and the even more painful realization that she ever will is what made me love this book. Not only did this book make a timeless generation happy, but it will also continue to soothe the need to love and to lose, to run and to stay in minds alike. Why? This timeless feeling that makes us what we are is perfectly captured in this book that I never even would have imagined would male me feel what it did. I have probably referred to this book as timeless because it is, woman from the past, present, and future will look back and read about this book and cry because it's like a warm hug from a mother, a funny story from an aunt, a crocheted sweater from you grandmother and a tear you shed when the feeling of your inner misery hits while looking out you window leaning on your elbow
