Tempest at Annabel's Lighthouse by Jaime Jo Wright

4.0

Jamie Jo Wright has firmly cemented her place as one of my all-time favorite authors. After reading her entire backlist last year, I now consider her an auto-buy for every new release—and her latest release is a perfect reminder of why. The tie-in to her first novel, The House on Foster Hill, on page 23 was exciting. I love seeing how her stories subtly connect.

Inspired by the haunting tone of Edgar Allan Poe’s poem, Annabel Lee, this atmospheric novel pulls readers into a dual-timeline tale brimming with mystery, suspense, and heart. From the very first page, I was hooked. The plot is rich with complexity, twists, and turns—each chapter pulling you deeper into the web of secrets. I found myself racing alongside Shae and Pete, piecing together clues and savoring every unexpected revelation. And just when I thought I had it all figured out, that final twist left me breathless—I had to read it twice!

What elevates this book beyond its gripping mystery is the depth of its characters and the emotional journeys they undergo. Themes of redemption, the healing of fractured relationships, and even a struggling marriage are explored with sensitivity and grace. The story beautifully examines the motives behind love and what it truly means to love someone—even during darkness. And through it all, Wright weaves a thread of hope—reminding us that truth and light can still be found even in the bleakest of places.

Rated: 4.5/5.0—Overall, a wonderfully thrilling story! I’m eagerly awaiting her next release in October 2025.
