A novella retelling of Antigone, the 5th century BC play by Sophocles, reset in a far future dying Earth. Roth creates an interesting world with a society dependent on gene editing and enforced in vitro fertilization, and raises questions of body autonomy, and adherence to social traditions, while hitting all the beats of the original story. Unfortunately I felt like it never really managed to pull all those things together into a cohesive thought.
