The Forty Rules of Love by Elif Shafak

5.0

Elif knows how to connect characters. It only takes a while before a web of time transcending relactionships take over the story and the reader gets pulled into it more and more. Smart plot, beautiful reminders from Rumi and inevitably: all about love. Elif breathes life into the word as wel. Her kind of love is meant to be submissive, unexpected, unattached, contradicting, patient, respectful, free from judgement and only (barely) understandable through the eyes of the lover.
