Dyeing to be Loved by Aimee Nicole Walker

4.0

Stylist Josh Rohan and detective Gabe Wyatt had a less than auspicious first meeting when Josh's neighbour and friend is murdered. Josh overhears Gabe doing some not very wise remarks to his partner, and he is quick to let him know that he is NOT amused.

That doesn't mean that Josh is indifferent to the detective's looks. Au contraire! But the animosity is running higher than the lust, so he trash any and all the attempts done by Gabe to apologize. And it kind of makes an ass of himself in the process.

Which leads to them finally giving in into the lust, but... nope, they are not in a relationship. Not at all. And that's one of the things I liked most (the other is Josh's dirty, dirty parrot :P): their emotional connection comes slowly; they fight, they run (well, mostly Josh runs), they come back and then, fight again. And all the while, this... thing between them is growing.

But is not only the romance that is wonderful, the mystery is also great and kept me really interested all along.

And the characters! they are all fantastic! I'm particularly fond of Gabe's partner, but the people at the beauty saloon are all funny and lovely.

So, yes, I went right for book 2, of course :P
