This book was not for me. I was expecting more of a romance, but that’s not what this book is at all. This is a book about trauma. If you have any triggers surrounding suicide or rape, do not read this. There are very graphic scenes. 90% of the book is about what happened to Cecilia (and its explicit), how she’s traumatized by it, how she tried to take her life because of it (very detailed), how her parents don’t know how to help her because they don’t know what happened, and how she is barely living. Another 5% of the book is about Gabe’s trauma and his brother’s suicide (also very graphic), and how his family has fallen apart because of it. Then the rest of the book is a romance between Gabe and Cecilia that felt forced and didn’t make very much sense. Maybe I wasn’t the right audience for this?
