I read this because the book of translations, Buffaloes world outreach project, was shortlisted for a Hugo Best Related work. I very much enjoyed it -- it took the good elements of the future Westerns in space sub-genre and did something new and intriguing with it. I'll be looking out for more of Schoen's work
