Where the Crawdads Sing by Delia Owens

5.0

A coming-of-age story like few others I've read. It's beautifully rendered (albeit with a few points of weak dialogue) - which fits with Delia Owens' rich background in zoology and biology. Unlike recent reads of mine, I didn't connect with any of the characters. My adoration for this novel instead stems more from the universality of enveloping nature, love, and human connection - it's a book about a girl who grows up alone in a marsh, is abandoned by everyone she loves, and who faces prejudice and violence due to her solitude. It's one of those stories that takes you on a ride that you can't put down until it's finished. And even when finished, leaves you wondering.
