Starling House by Alix E. Harrow

5.0

This book.

The atmosphere alone is entirely worth the 5 stars. This overwhelming feeling of darkness just covers the entire plot of this story, and Starling House just pulled me in over and over again.

We aren't just given one heartbreaking story, we're given a whole handful of them, all intertwined and spun together.

The fact that we get to see this boom through both Opal and Arthur's povs was really great because they were so vastly different. They might be seeing and doing the same things, but they experience it in entirely different ways. I found myself entirely devoted to both of them.

I wasn't entirely sure the direction this book was taking, but it was so perfectly done, and I truly couldn't have asked for a more wonderful experience.
