Amazing book that synthesizes the events of primitive accumulation, colonization of the New World, and witch hunts in an enlightening and fascinating way. You'll never see the witch trials the same way again--far from a mere product of superstition, they were an active campaign to undermine the role of women as important community members and to develop the traditional family as an important capitalist unit of labor power.
A must read for all Marxists and all feminists!
My only complaint is the total lack of mention of Romani people, who are often stereotyped as witches or involved in magic, and have historically been extremely marginalized and persecuted.
