Read the content warnings before you read this book. That might be the thing keeping me from giving a 5-star rating. That aside, I was immediately drawn into the world of magic and secret societies combined with murder mystery (not surprisingly, The Dresden Files by Jim Butcher are one of my favorite series; and this book reminded me of those, but with a main character I could more easily relate to).
I don't think I realized when I started reading that this is part of a series, so I'm excited to read on!
